National Epilepsy Week 14th -20th May 2017

With just under a week to go, Lanarkshire Epilepsy Support Group is finalising plans to raise awareness of epilepsy in our area.

Tuesday 16th May – our series of pop-up events starts in East Kilbride. We are delighted that Shopmobility EK (now known as Older and Active in EK) are providing The Meeting Place from 11am to 3pm. Throughout the day we are inviting shoppers and passers-by to drop in to find out information on epilepsy in a nice relaxing place, over a cup of tea in the community cafe.

We will also be running memory workshops during the day, so we would be keen for people to make the most of this opportunity – this invitation is open to everyone, not just people with epilepsy.

The Meeting Place is in EK Town Centre, close to the Olympia car park entrance to Sainsburys and the bus station.

Wednesday 17th May – as a leading member of the Epilepsy Consortium, we will be assisting with the information stand at the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood in Edinburgh.

Thursday 18th May – Along with the epilepsy nurses, we will have our information stands throughout the day at both Wishaw General Hospital and Hairmyres Hospital. At Hairmyres, you can meet us in the atrium entrance area, and downstairs in the restaurant area at Wishaw.

We will continue our community awareness activities into the summer, too. We will be attending a number of gala days, sporting events and community fun days around Lanarkshire – so keep checking our website and our Facebook page Lanarkshire Epilepsy Support Group Notice Board for updates.
